Key issues
HEALTH CARE IS A HUMAN RIGHT
Access to quality, affordable healthcare promotes economic stability and strong communities. Every Pennsylvanian deserves comprehensive coverage—regardless of their income, zip code, or background. We must fight back against efforts to restrict care and focus on expanding access to critical services.
Megan’s plan for a healthy PA:
Protect reproductive freedom: Codify the right to choose into state law to make sure that reproductive healthcare decisions remain between a patient and their doctor, including access to IVF and family planning services.
Prioritize mental health: Mandate that all health insurance plans include affordable, comprehensive mental health and substance abuse treatment. Invest in school-based mental health resources and community care facilities to treat our mental health crisis with the urgency it demands.
Lower prescription drug costs: We need to lower prescription drug costs and expand vital state programs, such as PACE and PACENET, so no Pennsylvanian has to choose between vital prescriptions and paying their utility bills.
PROTECT & EXPAND THE SOCIAL SAFETY NET
The state legislature plays a critical role in ensuring that our most vulnerable neighbors can access essential resources. Everyday while working in the office’s of State Representatives Ben Sanchez and Nancy Guenst, I saw how important benefit programs such as SNAP (food assistance), Medical Assistance (healthcare), and LIHEAP (energy assistance) are for survival. As federal support is threatened, Pennsylvania’s role becomes more critical.
Megan will fight to:
Restore and enhance key programs: Bring back lifeline programs such as Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP), Whole Home Repairs Program, and rental assistance to help keep families safe and stable in their homes.
Streamline constituent services: Ensure the state representative’s office remains a dedicated hub for connecting residents with state benefits by reducing bureaucratic hurdles, especially for working families, veterans, and seniors.
EDUCATION: INVESTING IN OUR FUTURE
A child’s education should never be determined by where they live. Education is a fundamental right and is key to building a prosperous and equitable future. We must fulfill our constitutional obligation to fully and fairly fund our public schools.
Megan stands for:
Equitable funding: Implement the Fair Funding Formula to ensure every public school district receives the resources necessary to provide a top-notch education.
Support for all students: Increase funding for special education and gifted programs and ensure every school has the nurses, counselors, and mental health professionals needed.
Alternative educational paths: Encourage and increase funding for high-quality Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, apprenticeships, and other workforce development programs that prepare students for well-paying, family-sustaining jobs in our community.
ECONOMY & WORKERS' RIGHTS
A strong economy is one that works for everyone, not just corporations and the wealthy. We need to focus on affordability for working people and ensure that workers are treated fairly.
Megan’s economic priorities:
Affordability: Champion policies that lower the costs of housing, childcare, insurance, and other critical expenses.
Strong worker protections: Protect the right to organize and collectively bargain so unions can thrive and workers have a voice in their workplace.
Raise the minimum wage: It is time to say goodbye to our current $7.25 wage and pass a living wage tied to inflation here in our Commonwealth.
EQUALITY AND CIVIL RIGHTs
All Pennsylvanians deserve respect, protection, and true equality under the law, regardless of who they are, where they come from, or who they love. We must actively eliminate discrimination in every facet of life.
Megan will champion legislation to protect:
Gender equality: Advocate to close the gender wage gap, fight for workplace protections, and protect the right to choose.
LGBTQ+ community: Enforce non-discrimination protections across housing, employment, and public accommodations. Pass legislation to make the name change process easier, accessible, and affordable.
Racial justice: Fight against systemic discrimination in our legal and economic systems, including implementing comprehensive criminal justice reform.
Disability rights: Increase accessibility across public infrastructure and support initiatives that promote independence, economic opportunities, and self-determination.
DEMOCRACY REFORM
Our democracy is strongest when every eligible voter can participate and make their voice heard. We must champion reforms that expand access to the ballot box and reduce the influence of special interests.
Megan will safeguard free and fair elections:
Protect and expand voting access: Defend and expand popular reforms such as mail-in voting, push to improve early voting, and implement same-day registration. Employers should be required to give workers time off on Election Day.
Curb money in politics: Reduce the influence of money in our politics through stricter campaign finance laws, increased transparency, and a gift ban.
Fair districts: Support redistricting reforms so districts are drawn fairly and transparently, guaranteeing that voters choose their representatives.
Safeguard Our Environment
The health of our environment directly impacts the prosperity of our communities. We must commit to responsible stewardship and be strong advocates for environmental protection.
Megan will vote for legislation which ensures:
Clean water: Enact stronger enforcement against polluters, invest in infrastructure upgrades to aging water and sewage systems, and implement strict standards to monitor and regulate PFAS and other contaminants.
Sustainable energy: Incentivize the development of wind and solar energy to create local jobs, expand responsible oversight, and promote energy efficiency to lower utility costs. Work to implement Governor Shapiro’s bipartisan Lightning Plan to ensure clean, accessible energy for all.
Green spaces: Strengthen programs that preserve agricultural land, fully fund conservation projects, and invest in resilient infrastructure to protect communities from flooding and severe weather.
